Does anyone know how to change the naming schema of the Log files in IIS 6? I know I can change the directory from say C:\Windows\System32 to E:\IISLogs, but it still creates a unique folder like

E:\IISLogs\W3SVC1290268629\

Can I make it say like

E:\IISLogs\example.com_Logs\

I just want a way to easily identity the logs for backup and transfering purposes. I know it could be done becuase HMS puts your log files in he "Logs" folder on the root of your website.

Yes, and you're probably going to kick yourself. Simply type the log folder path you want in the appropriate field (which it seems you've found) in IIS. You could name your log folder e:\IISLogs\LeftElbow\ if you chose.

OK, So I tried that this morning and it still creates that random directory under it:

I set the log path to: E:\IISLogs\Domain\

Then it created a new directory under that:

E:\IISLogs\Domain\W3SVC1290268629

That weird directory name it creates is what I don't want.

One would say why is it a big deal? Because I want to be able to back up my logs and know what site they go with-- W3SVC1290268629 doesn't tell me what site it goes with as easy as domain.com_logs would.

I didn't see any info on there as to what version of IIS that is in reference to.

I have a feeling that the script they give there is only going to set the root folder, like what you did earlier. I found several posts that said this could not be done. Please let us know if it works!!
