I'm getting an error on my windows VPS which I believe is related to the following problems.

1) when I try to web browse to the home page (or any page for that matter), I get "Service unavalable". There is NO perl code running on the page and it worked fine yesterday.

2) the application pool this site is on stops with an "unspecified error"

3) the widows event viewer lists the following 2 errors:

=========
1st error
========
Could not load all ISAPI filters for site/service. Therefore startup aborted.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
===============
2nd error
========
The HTTP Filter DLL C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe failed to load. The data is the error.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
===========

I get 10 sets of these errors per page request.

I think these are all related, but can't be sure.

I have the same problem whether I browse from outside the server or inside the server.

Any ideas?

Hey Pulsar77,

How did you install perl onto the vps and what version of perl did you install? Does the error simply state "unspecified error" ? Can you provide a link as well?

Thanks

Hi,

I installed active state perl and the perl package manager (PPM). It installs itself and PPM is a very easy way to add perl modules you may need.

http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Downloads/ActivePerl/

As for the error messages, It's been so long and I had SO MANY VPS issues I can't remember what it was. I know it WASN"T perl. It was partly an old script I moved from a UNIX box and partly IIS setup issues, like MIME types and making sure extensions were recognized. It all works now so thats about all I can tell you.

Good luck
