I have been transferring 3 mostly coldfusion sites from one box to another. Along the way I found some asp code that doesn't work on the new box.
The asp error i am getting is a "configuration" error and suggests to check to ensure the application on the virtual directory is set up. I dont have any virtual directorys set up on the new server like the old, instead i actually popped the directroy into the web root as a real directory but no luck. Here come the questions: Does the application have to be configured on the website root? or does it have to be the folder with the asp code in it? does the application name matter? Thanks |

You can have the whole webroot defined as an application, or a specific folder if you want. Either way, you'll want to contact support@hostmysite.com and have them put you in the proper application pool (depending on whether you are using .net 1.1 or 2.0). If your code is limited to just one subfolder, just have the support team define that folder as an application. So it's either way really, just depends on how you want to organize your web directory. It doesn't matter what the name of the application is.
