I've been trying to read the SmarterMail documentation, but I keep getting app errors from the ASP server. No one seems to have covered the topic here, so I am hoping to find some help! I am trying to figure out a way to export contacts from SmarterMail so that I can import them elsewhere. Does anyone know how this can be done, or if this is even possible?

Yes, it is possible. SmarterMail can export the address book in the form of an XML document. You'll just need to make sure that the program you are importing can accept XML files. Unfortunately you'll not be able to do this on your own. E-mail support@hostmysite.com and let them know what you want. They will be able to get the XML file and place it in your web directory for you.

As far as I know, this is the only way to do it without having to copy it manually. If anyone else knows of another way...

Smartermail 3.x allows you to import them directly into Outlook (full version, not express) however we only have one server running that at this time. I'm working on getting the rest upgraded ASAP!

Support sent me the XML file so I was able to get what I needed. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

SmarterMail 3 will import these:

* *.VCF – vCard files
* *.CSV – Comma-separated text files
* *.ZIP – Zip archives containing any combination of VCF and CSV files
