I searched the board as best I could before posting. Sorry if I asked soemthing that was covered.
The searching has answered A LOT of questions, but I have a few more regarding a reseller account. I’ll be straight forward rather than writing a book. 1.Is there a central reseller control panel to manage all of your clients. (Billing, account password resets, new account setups, status of all accounts, administrative login without using clients username password etc.) If so, is this in a separate control panel for the reseller? or is it attached to your hosting account (if you have one)? 2.For each account, can the administrative contact be set to the client instead of the reseller? (if for some reason they want that) 3.Who will “own” each account? The reseller? Or your client? (who’s name will be on the account) 4.When I had contacted support to signup as a reseller originally, they said you need to sign up for an account first to be a reseller. 5. Is there a fee to switch hosting plans (i.e. from Windows to Linux) I **REALLY** wish php was offered on HMS’s Windows servers. But I won’t complain about that. Is it in the future of HMS? (I know i can get CF and php on Linux, but I've always been a windows developer and have a windows test box) 6.If for some reason, (business goes belly up or whatnot), you need to release all of your clients from your reseller account to HMS, can this be done? Would there be a huge fee? I am amazed with HMS plans. I searched a long time trying to find AFFORDABLE ColdFusion hosting for my clients, as well as cheap non CF plans. And I must say HMS customer service far exceeds my current providers customer service. I would appreciate any help anyone could offer. |

Thank you for your inquiry and interest in HostMySite.com. The following are the answers to your questions:
1. Is there a central reseller control panel to manage all of your clients? Yes, HostMySite offers a control panel to both you and your clients. As the reseller you are given an Account Adminstrator login that will allow you to log into the control panel and manage everything for all of your accounts. This includes adding new accounts, changing your billing information, changing passwords, as well as setting file permissions, configuring custom error pages and a whole lot more. A technical contact can also be created for your clients that would only give them access to their website through the control panel and only allow them to make technical changes. They would never see the billing information or your personal information. 2. For each account, can the administrative contact be set to the client instead of the reseller? The Account Administrator is designed to give you, the reseller the ability to manage all of your accounts. Each reseller hosting account is tied to the Account Administrator. Therefore, we cannot give this level of permissions to your individual client. As mentioned above though, you can provide your clients with a login and password that will allow them to administer a number of technical aspects of their website. 3. Who will “own” each account? As the reseller, you will "own" each hosting account. All billing and communications will be done through you. If your clients have an inquiry they would contact you. You can then either resolve their inquiry or you can contact us and we will be more than happy to assist you. This is the same for billing. We bill you directly for each hosting account and you then bill your clients. The advantage to this system for you is that your customers do not need to know about us allowing you to charge your customer any rate you wish. 4. When I had contacted support to signup as a reseller originally, they said you need to sign up for an account first to be a reseller. That is correct. Our reseller program requires you to have one hosting account setup at the normal rates. This is your primary account and can be of any plan type you wish. Once this is setup, we can update your user as a reseller in our system and you can then begin adding new reseller hosting accounts. 5. Is there a fee to switch hosting plans (i.e. from Windows to Linux)? The only fee would be the difference in plan types for the remainder of the current hosting cycle. To give an example using simple numbers, if you change from a $5/month account to a $10/month account (a $5 difference) and have 3 months remaining on your hosting cycle, the fee would be $15. At the renewal of your hosting cycle, we would renew you at the new rates. There are no additional fees though. Currently there are no plans to offer PHP for windows. 6. If for some reason you need to release all of your clients from your reseller account to HMS, can this be done? You, this can be done. Ownership of each account would transfer to your clients on an individual basis. There is no fee for this process, although your clients would no longer be eligible for the reseller hosting discount. Is there a way to cusomize the format of emails that are automatically sent from the control panel?
Can resellers send emails to their clients from the control panel? I feel like there should be A LOT more functionality in the reseller panel than there is. Are there any plans to give resellers additional control? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! |

Currently there is not a way to customize emails through the control panel. We are always looking for ways to improve the control panel, both for our reseller customers and our retail customers.
