What is the best ASP.net editor?

- Visual Studio.Net?
- Macromedia MX?
- Notepad?
- Something else?

Visual Studio.NET. It's expensive, but I think it's worth it.

Check out the beta version of Visual Web Developer 2005. I have only recently downloaded it myself, but it incorporates all of the new features Microsoft has been promising in it's totally revamped ASP.NET 2.0.

You can download the software from the MSDN site for ASP.NET (http://msdn.microsoft.com/asp.net/).

Also try the SQL Server Express 2005 Beta -- the new version of MSDE. It works quite well with Visual Web Developer.

Have fun

Personally, since it involves web design, I prefer to use DreamWeaver MX 2004. It has a great autocomplete, it has great syntax highlighting, and it creates standards complient HTML code... something that MS products DON'T do. Smile

I'll admit it - I'm prejudiced, since it's my product, but if you're a VB.Net kind of developer and you're tired of bloat and you like single page scripting, then my opinion is that ASP Express is the best ASP.Net text editor.
And apparently many customers agree with me
Cool
