I have a netgear wireless router installed in my home, in total there are 3 computers conected, mine, my sons and my daughters. my connection is through USB, Sons is through Ethernet, and daughters is through Wireless connection. now we are all connected to the net as normal. and i being the admin can view theyre remote screens, but what i wanted to know is, how would i set it up so that. we can log off one computer and log on the other with roaming profiles, so that all is the same when we log on different computers

any help Thanks... Shocked

I have to question your motives for this query i think, i mean what is the age of the other users?(heard of privacy?)

Why would you want to use the same logon details for all three pc's?

Roaming profiles are surely there if ALL users are in agreement and if they dont mind these profiles being set up on their particular pc!

If they are children on the other hand, surely you would know their logon details anyway with you being the parent i presume, so really i dont understand your problem, unless of course your motives are a little bit iffy??

Well if the pc's dont have any log in details you can log on to them all anyway, so again i have to question your motives??

If you mean can you log onto their pc's from your pc, well it isn't happening without their consent i'm afraid, so why not go and ask them Cool

Are you baffled? Razz

I think you need a proper server that supports roaming profiles. If you're on XP, You CAN set up 3 different users on each computer, but you have to manually set up the same 3 users on each and every computer. And if you change you desktop look on one computer, you won't see those settings when you log into the other computers.

To be able to carry desktop settings etc. from computer to computer automatically, then you'll need a proper server (like Windows Server 2003, if you're using XP for your workstations), and you'll need to configure the server so that Roaming Profiles are enabled. Also AFAIK, roaming profiles won't automatically handle software installation on all computers. It just allows you to roam with your registry and desktop settings. If you want all users to have the latest MS Office, you're going to have to still install MS Office on all 3 computers. Unless you're interested in learning about networking, I would think roaming profiles are overkill for a 3 computer home network.
