I was wondering if there was any possibility of getting a mySQL account from a Windows account or if it was limited to SmarterLinux accounts only.

This is actually a product offering that is in the works. I believe, that means don't quote me, that windows plans will have the option of installing a MySQL db via the control panel and doing DSN's. I also believe (no quoting), that these MySQL DB's will be on Linux servers, not Windows.
Look for something in the next few months. But if it's more urgent, we can probably stick a MySQL db on a linux server for you and create a CF DSN to it. Problem is currently our shared windows boxes do not all have the Mysql drivers, but since CFMX comes with a built in MySQL driver it's not such an issue if you are going that route. |

So is the MySQL option working in the create DNS panel?
I want to create a DNS for my local mySQL db like I did for one of my MSSQL db. Is there any particular procedure I need to use. I know that locally I had some trouble getting CF7 working with mySQL 4.1 so I'm hoping that setting it up on HMS will be a little easier. -Thanks Jamaal |

So, the MySQL db support is a "go" on Windows platforms. Now if I may ask, once the mysql db is created, how do we go about logging into the DB server or is there a front end interface we can use to manage the database?
Thanks! |

Does MySQL support stored procs 100% yet?
If not - what about providing a PostgreSQL on the value windows accounts since the SQLServer DB's are kind of expensive here? |

MySQL 5 apprently has support of them (not sure to what level) but HMS runs v 4.1... which does not.

For sonoflight's question: is there a front end interface we can use to manage the database? yes...
You can download SQLyog at http://www.webyog.com/sqlyog/index2.php. It has great interface and easy to use. There is article about it at http://www.databasejournal.com/features/mssql/article.php/10898_1558731_1 |

I believe we recently incorporated phpMyAdmin into our control panel, however I don't have an account I can test this on.

When I just read that MySQL was available with a standard windows account I checked my control panel. I did see an option to create a MySQL database, but no PHPMyAdmin.
How would we get the db IP address, etc once we created the MySQL db ? Thanks Ted |

Once MySQL is added to your account you will now have a MySQL Databases button. This button will allow you access to phpmyadmin and your database.

Another question on adding MySQL to a win account. Once you add MySQL do you automatically upgrade the account to a CF Builder, have PHP Win loaded ? Since you would now have a database what scripting / app server can be used ?
Seems it might make sense to just upgrade the account from the low end windows account to another plan. Ted |

We offer mysql to your packages, but however php on a windows plan is still not available. The phpmyadmin is not run off your website but on a internal server.
