My college art/design professor would be proud...and then she would go off and lecture us more about bauhaus.
More about bauhaus: http://people.ucsc.edu/~gflores/bauhaus/b1.html Needless to say, good design is imperative for a quality website with maximum response. When was the last time you saw a red and yellow (or lime green and red) website? There is a lot of backend techie stuff which is very important to the success and effectiveness of a website, but it won't do you any good if it is not presented to the end users in an aesthetically pleasing way. Here's a helpful link for designers: http://www.wpdfd.com/ |

This page has helped me a TON
http://wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme2/index-en.html I am deuteranomalous, which means I am red/green color blind and as such what looks good to me looks like CRAPPOLLA to the rest of the population...so having tools like these is indispensible when doing design. I HAVE to have someone/something tell me what looks good and what doesn't. |

Yea man - that little color wheel makes it easy to pick a main color and then have it tell you what complenting colors will go good with it.

Useability is key for a website. People read left to right before they read top down. The horizontal menu might be too cliche, but people really respond to it well. Also, if you have something that says "Click Here" in large red letters people will, no joke, click on it more than any other sort of banner or link. Just a couple of things I have learned from my professors at DCAD who work at MBNA during the day designing websites.
However, what the link provided does give people is a general range of complimentary tonal values of colors to use on a website. Let's face it, most people couldn't pick colors for a website to save their lives. Jon: BauHaus is an interesting art movement and certainly more useful than Pop Art but Art Nuveau and Art Deco had much more interesting experimental qualities and innovation of form. Warhol's a hack. His protoges are hacks. His influence upon contemporary art is cancerous at best. |
