I've used Eclipse here at work and I really don't like it...just personal preferance cuz our Java guys swear by it and use it for all their development.
If I spent a lot of time in it I'd prolly learn it...but...UltraEdit is the app for me pretty much. I rough in my classic ASP apps in Dreamweaver then do 90% of the real hand coding of those in UltraEdit. I do ALL my php stuff in UltraEdit by hand. The search functions in UltraEdit are second to none and make changing code a breeze. Plus, you should just get UltraEdit for it's column mode...talk about making indenting code a pleasure... Of course if I am doing .NET stuff it's VS.NET2003 all the way. Intellisense rules. |

I don't use VS... I tried... I don't like it. I don't like the way it lays things out, I don't like the way it changes things, and I don't like all the FPness of it... Dreamweaver all the way, and if something needs compiling the command line is way easy.

Well see - i don't design in VS - I code in VS
I'll rough in the design in VS - for example I'll lay out the form elements etc...and go that route - then once I get everythign completed - I rip out the HTML from all the ASPX pages and put my design in. I could NOT program .NET without VS - I HAVE to have the debugger and Intellisense....and the class browesr and the server explorer etc etc etc... I use DWMX for classic ASP but IMHO it's not a .NET app - not yet. |

But how do you LIVE without the debugger and intellisense?!?!?!
OMG - I'd DIE without the .NET debugger! I sooooo love being able to step through my .NET apps... |

Contribute is a good alternative to FrontPage as a tool that a non-techie can use to get the job done. It doesn't give them too much that a user is overwhelmed with features and it doesn't restrict them to a point where they can't get their job done. Jonathan Arena HMS |

well contribute is a good program 4 a qualified person to make a site and slap the contribute code over and hand it off to a non qualified person(s) who will be updating the site without the abilitiy for them too mess it up, since they can only edit certain sections
