Hello everyone!

I am excited to announce that our SmarterLinux.com customers now have the ability to password protect folders through the control panel! Both the Account Administrator (Superuser) and Technical contact (via the FTP login) have this ability. To do this, just follow these steps:

1) Login to the control panel at https://controlpanel.hostmysite.com/login.cfm
2) Select the domain to manage (if you logged in as the Account Administartor)
3) Click on "Apache" from the left hand menu
4) Click on "Password Protection"
5) Browse to the folder you want to protect. For example, to select the directory "private" under the htdocs directory, you would highlight "/htdocs", click "Browse Directory", then highlight "/htdocs/private" and click "Select Directory"
6) Confirm that you want to proceed with password protecting the selected directory by clicking "Ok" in the pop-up window
7) Specify that Username and Password for the folder, click "Add User", and then click "Ok"

We are excited about this new feature and will be adding more in the weeks to come.

Please give us some feedback on this and let us know if you have suggestions for future Control Panel features. Be on the look out for the ability to manage multiple DNS zones via the Control Panel soon!!

Happy Hosting!
