How come some site that I log into in FrontPage have the ability to save user/passwords, however others do not give you the option, not even a grayed out checkbox, simply nothing there? Is this dependent on the server that they are on, or is this a configuration issue?

I have no idea why you cannot save passwords in frontpage, thats weird. I havent had that problem and I am using 2002 I think. I go to File, Open Web, ( that lets you make live changes, all you have to do is click on the save button) and it prompts me for my username and password. But it gives me the option to save my password.. i will have to find someone with a copy and take a look at it..

It happened when I had 2002 as well. The option to save the password is simply not there.

I believe this has to do with whether your site is using Integrated Windows Authentication or Basic Text. I have seen this from time to time on various sites as well and on different FrontPage versions. Although with Linux FP sites, I have never seen this option.

Excuse this late post....
Groll had written: How come some site that I log into in FrontPage have the ability to save user/passwords, however others do not give you the option, not even a grayed out checkbox, simply nothing there? Is this dependent on the server that they are on, or is this a configuration issue? If you publish to an FTP you will not see an option to [x] Remember My Password i.e., ftp://ftp.mydomain.com if you set the server as: www.mydomain.com or destinationfolder.mydomain.com when you try to connect you will see: The server www.mydomain.com at www.mydomain.com requires a username and password. Just fill in your Frontpage User Name and Password (the ones you set up with your host) and check the [x] Remember My Password Exit FP and restart. Open your web and Publish to Web and you will see you saved User Name and Password for that web. Hope that helps.... Bob Spiteri |
