Looking for opinions on, if there is a overall preference or ease & user friendliness
between Linux & Windows ASP/.NET servers for the beginner. I am using a website building program (webstudio) rather than the one offered on HMS & will simply be using Filezilla FTP. I will be staying with those. I will not start with many applications other than pre-programmed newsfeeds. Trying to lean toward simplicity & ease of management where possible. Many thanks for your input. |

Assuming that Web Studio generates only standard HTML, any plan will be fine and you can pretty much decide based on price. The only thing you might want to think about is if you are planning on using any server-side scripting down the line, but from what you said it sounds like you won't need that.
The server operating system doesn't really impact things that much. The only difference I can think of is that in a linux environment you will have to put web content into a subfolder called "htdocs" where as on a windows plan, you put the content right in the FTP root. If you have any other questions feel free to post! -Dave |
