Wanted to ask you guys if Postini was working well. How long does it take to do well. Do I need to mess with it or will it be set up for me. I tried working with spam assasin on ipower and never got that filter working and client receives some 100 spam per day.

I'm considering a switch from ipower to hms. I will be using postini on a few accounts but want the regular spam filter to be very good as well.

Other issues are that I've heard that sometimes the sites here load slowly so I wanted to hear what the users have to say about that. Any thoughts on this?

thanks in advance.

Postini works very well for me - I went from over seven emails a day to one spam email every three weeks.

I find HMS to be very fast - faster than most of their competitors. To be honest, the reason why some of the sites at HMS load slower is a function of the type of sites that would choose HMS. Because HMS markets itself through service, certain types of website owners are more likely to choose it, and many of those website owners also may be the type who have large page sizes due to excessive image or javascript use etc. I know of plenty of high-profile sites hosted at HMS.

It usually takes 24-48 hours for the cached MX records to phase out so after that time, Postini will be fully functional in its spam fighting.

A word of caution on Postini, actually it is not a true Postini problem but it can still bite you......

If you move from a hosting firm where you already have Postini to a new host and implement Postini there the original host must remove your accounts (and notify, AND check) from Postini before you set up with the new host.

If the accounts are not completely out of the original setup mail will be lost. Probably best to not use Postini for awhile until you are sure nothing remains from the old host.

When we add accounts into postini if it fails our support@hostmysite.com should have been sent an email automatically by our internal applications. When we get this email we can change your MX records back to what they were originally. However you are correct it can be an annoyance, as Postini will not remove it from the old host to us unless the old host approves it. Generally you would have to contact the old host/isp and have them completely remove the domain (not just the users) from their postini administrator so we can add it. Ths isn't a very common occurance though. If you have doubt you can come into the Live Chat and ask one of our support personel to set it up while your in chat, and then test to verify it is working via networktools.com's email validation.
