Hey Everyone --
I have a Windows and Linux VPS...both using Coldfusion. I am trying to setup a situation where I have a shared on each side so I can share file between them when needed. I just created a share on Windows and then tried running smbclient to mount the share on Linux. I believe smbclient wants you to use the machine name but it could not see the Windows machine (probably a different subnet). I then tried with the IP and receive after a bit of trying a Connection failed message. I checked and I have the Firewall on Windows disabled so that shouldn't' be causing any issues. Has anyone set something like this up? How did you get it to work with the HostMySites system? Thanks for your help! Erik |

Submit a support request. We will need to check the hardware node's firewall rules. If we rule that out then there might be some internetwork ACLs that our NetOps team may need to look into in order for this to work properly.

Weird ... I actually did that already ... well sort of. I used your support chat feature and the person I spoke with said it wasn't possible.
Is there a way? |

We certainly should be able to accommodate such a request. If necessary we can take the issue up with our Network Operations team. Like I said first we need to investigate the firewall at the hardware node level and, on both VPS servers. Then if we find that there are no road blocks there then we would probably escalate the issue.
Give us a call or send in an email with your exact setup and we'll get it sorted out! |
