I’d appreciate any suggestions for recommended reading on the basics of web host management. I realize it's a broad subject, so specifically reference manuals that may prove useful while configuring and maintaining our clients' web sites within our new HMS Windows VPS.

I'd also appreciate suggestions for detailed technical manuals and books regarding web server and e-mail management and configuration.

Any titles or other resources are greatly appreciated!

I have a few ideas here which I'll post. You will be able to find books on the Windows side of things specifically for IIS, Server setup and permissions. When you talk about email management there really isn't any general books that explain it to much. Since SmarterMail is offered the best source to use for that is the support articles from Hostmysite.com or even using references from the SmarterTools website found here:
http://support.smartertools.com/Customer/KB.aspx
