no the customer isnt always right, thats why its your job to educate them because they dont always (more like never) have any idea of half the things out there, thats why u educate them

but think as u do josh, we all know we dont see eye to eye and thats fine with me. Like everything else, it just gives me more business.

u say the customer is always right but i will go back to my previous example with the sorority, they said dont worry about making it compliant but after "educating them" they did the research and out of the 8 developers they were interviewing, they choose me. why? was told because i cared enough about my work to "educted" them and now they are much happier.

personally, if i get a client who wants crap, i send them too someone else cause i dont want my name on crap. if they want a site they can maintain, i certainly wouldnt give them frontpage crap i would either a) make the site completely editable using cfm (which i do on my real estate cheapo templates) or they can have the option of buying & using contribute. That way they cant completely mess up the site and when they do and someone goes to there mess of a site that they have completely redone in fp but the visitot sees your name, thats just plain dumb!!

if u need business that bad then ok
but by educating them u wont lose them, just have a smarter more informed customer

I know... it's a recent formatting issue. *sigh*

im working on a redesign/redev that's xhtml. Right now I'm waiting for John Dyer to release the next version of his FreeTextBox Wink (because it also produces xhtml compliant code).

What to do, what to do? When I first created the site it was HTML compliant... *shrugs*

Ugh, don't people ever get tired of those cheesy WYSIWYG editors- you would think someone would have produced a decent flash-based one by now.

But it makes input great for those with no understanding of formatting, etc... Im using this for my family website whom my wife, daughter, grandparents, brothers, etc use.

FreeTextBox (http://www.FreeTextBox.com) is by far the single best product produced with the .net framework in mind. And it's not the current release that's so great... it's the one yet to be released (v 3.0). It's due out anytime, and I'm really looking forward to it.

I have some clients that use it in their backend as well to update content on their sites and what not... other than a few formatting issues I think it's great.

I've been using ActivEdit which works for ColdFusion, PHP, .NET and also works on Mac browsers now I think.

Ah HA!!! So you use a wysiwyg too Wink

ActiveEdit has come a long way since I last used it... nice!!!

It seems much much nicer than it used to be, but seems to be lacking some things as well. Does it support the uploading of files thru it's interface? What type of "tables" support and tools does it have? How easy is it to program "custom" toolbars? I got a trial, but just figured I'd ask here as well.

the only thing that still has me wanting the new FreeTextBox over this is that FTB is Free fRee frEE!!! Wink
