Hi,
I would like to ask for your help. I just upload OSCommerce ( www.oscommerce ) to my Linux Builder plan. Then I would like to start the installation procedure, but unfortunatelly I got the below error message. I tried with my other hosting account ( Using Cpanel ) and everything okay. Is there any special setting in HMS server environment I must do ? Please advice. ----------------------- Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, root@domain.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. I think OSCommerce has an .htaccess by default, try renaming that to something like .htaccess.bak and see if it loads.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. After following your suggestion, I can access my website. So I look around at the .htaccess and try to find out more. Then I found that the following syntax resulting the error : DirectoryIndex index.php ErrorDocument 401 /401.html ErrorDocument 403 /403.html ErrorDocument 404 /404.html ErrorDocument 500 /500.html If I remove those syntax and upload back the .htaccess, everything is okay. I still not sure why those syntaxt can causing 500 Internal Server Error. Maybe a hint for me ? Thank you. |

The error docs are actually set in your site container (you can configure it in the control panel under apache and custom errors). There are certain functions of the htaccess file that are not allowed or have to be enabled, just kind of security thing as I'm sure some htaccess functions could be potentially dangerous to the site or the server.
