Hello, on one of my dedicated servers with HMS, we are running SmarterMail Professional Edition 3.0.2231. Whenever a user's session times out, and they are redirected to log back in, an error message is displayed upon a successful login (the inbox is not displayed):

/Main/frmMessages.aspx
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I have not noticed this with any other accounts I have with HMS that are on a shared mail server. They all redirect properly. I'm guessing it's a bug within the app. Is there a patch we could obtain to correct this issue, or will we just need to purchase an upgrade?

Thanks,

MB

Yeah, SmarterMail can act funny like that sometimes. Some people have problems running the web portion in IIS instead of the built-in SmarterMail webservice. There are a few IIS configuations you need to make sure you have set correctly. You have to have a javascript MIME type registered in IIS, you need to be in .NET 1.1 mode and you have to have some scripting permissions correct. Some more details can be found here:

Otherwise you can always go back to using the SmarterMail webserver if you can spare the 15MB of memory on your server.

Smartermail actually doesn't suggest using their built in webserver for production sites, and I have to echo the statement because I've seen it cause some pretty wild errors in the past.
