How do I make a password-protected area - for members only on my website?

You'll have to build some type of login framework. Do you have a language preference (ASP, PHP, ColdFusion?)

Well I don't know any of those languages. I just write HTML into a notepad. Which of those languages would be easiest for me to learn?

Robin, it really depends. What plan are you hosted on now? If you can manually update the usernames and passwords, and don't need to make it dynamic, you can use HTTP Basic Authentication which you can setup in the control panel. Otherwise, I'd recommend Coldfusion or Rails. Rails is an excellent framework, and I'd be glad to assist you with it. Coldfusion is also an excellent language, and several people on this forum also know it.. Both are easy to use, and well supported. Coldfusion is, however, more costly (19.99 vs. 8.95).

I can manually maintain the userlist. I'm interested in that option.

Tom, what content to you wish to password protect? Will this be obtained from a database? If not, simply create a directory, and follow http://www.hostmysite.com/support/cpanel/linux/passwordprotect/ if you're on linux. If you're on Windows, I regret I cannot assist you with this, as I am not familiar with the Windows control panel, but try looking under website administration and IIS. Thanks
