Hello,
Is it possible to have sub-domains? I'm a reseller and would like to have this functionality for some clients. I spoke to support yesterday who suggested adding a new alias. I've tried this but it says my domain is not valid, i think it's because it is pointing toa subfolder for eg, mydomain.com/forum. I saw on another thread that one would have to do some redirects but this was a while ago and i'm hoping this has changed. One client has a lot of forum pages already indexed by SEs and i'd like the transition as smooth as possible. Any help? |

Nya,
This was covered some type back. Please refer to THIS thread. In a nutshell, HostMySite's policy permits only a single unique website per account, and a unique website is defined by it's homepage (more or less). However, if you'd like to redirect your subdomains yourself, you can do so either using Cold Fusion or ASP. You can find out more about redirect scripts at THIS thread If you simply want say a domain like store.example.com to point to www.example.com, support can set that up for you. But support.example.com can not point to a specific folder. Hope this helps |

Thanks, i was sorta hoping that had changes. Not sure the sense in pointing all domains to your homepage, but anyway. I was looking for the ASP code. Any idea for the implications of indexed pages? for eg how would i redirect a page like:
http://forum.mywebsite.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=149&PN=1 This is my biggest client and I've informed them they'll be moving to another host which has much more functionality. |

If I remember from a while back..You were thinking about Windows VPS.. If you had a VPS you can have all the sub domains you wanted and can make them point to whatever. Just and FYI For ASP, Try This:

Thanks Jason. Yes i was looking at VPS, but it's not an ideal solution for me. Steep learning curve - maybe when i have more time i'll look into it in more depth but for now a reseller account should do me fine.
