I was hoping I could get some ideas on where to look to get a better idea of how to use Meta Name Content tags and other tricks so my pages show up on search engines, and linking to other sites.

We are a private non profit but are looking at marketing certain aspects of our programs to local companies and tourists. We are in Hawaii and operate a three masted sailing ship and would like to get information about our ship charters out to people planning vacations in Hawaii. I know this is kind of a broad topic so if I could get some pointers on where to look and reference material for this, I would appreciate it.

Here is a good site with lots of references about Meta tags:

Although meta tags are often ignored, I've had very good luck with not getting them ignored. My keywords and page descriptions seem to always get indexed.

If you want to get your site on Google, You can start by submitting a sitemap. This will usually get your site crawled in a week or two. You will have to "Verify" your site in order to get it submitted. But that's simple.

Hope this helps Very Happy

Jason101;

Thanks for the info, great place to start.

SE Pa. huh, I moved to Hawaii 3 years ago from Allentown. Traveled Philly, Brandywine, York, Lancaster area quite a bit while I was there.

Nice place until the snow came.

Thanks again.
