Not that there was anything wrong with the old regular support guys, But its nice calling in and speaking with a tech that assumes I am competent, and moving immediately to the issue at hand, instead of having a tech assume I am half retarded, and then creating a ticket for someone else. Very good move! Thanks!

Yeah this is something that we are really excited about internally too! VPS issues were a sore spot and we are glad to get it moving in the right direction.

Thanks for the input!

Not that they treated me half retarded. But they had to filter with me to figure out my experience ( which takes time ). Which is good to make the retarded ( how do I setup outlook ) customers feel more welcomed.

The new VPS guys are phenominal. Must be better coffee in their break room.

I'll second that...

I've never had a real problem with HMS general support guys / gals. They seem to know a fair amount of stuff, but every once and a while, I would need to ask a real deep level question, I would get a "I don't know, I'll open a ticket for this..." and then the tech would take their best guess at writing a ticket, that often turned out to only slightly resemble the question I was asking. The other issue that would come up is the tech would give me their best guess at the answer and present it as fact. I was once told that I could install a windows update (that I needed for a PCI scan/verification) on my VPS, turns out that the update would have bricked the VPS if I proceeded. Lucky, I called back and got a second answer from someone that knew a lot more about VPSs.

So I look foreword to using the new VPS support. So far they have been very very quick at answering my questions and given me real answers.

Thanks!

You shouldn't run Windows Updates on your server, they should be off as we apply the security patches, I wouldn't recommend in uninstalling anything that came with the VPS as they are applied in templates. It can mess with a few things if you run updates, but I think uninstalling it really only 'may' cause diskspace problems, but I'm not 100% positive on it breaking anything else.

As for the PCI Complience part, our VPS's are not PCI Complaint, I think the reason is perhaps they are still 'technically' shared, and our shared servers are not compliant either. Only Dedicated servers can be compliant within our network. If you need some more clarification I can find out more information from our compliance staff.

@ Ray, Yes, running windows update on a VPS would be a bad thing. That is why I was surprised by the HMS tech that told me I could, when I asked if there was a ETA for a specif update to be installed on the VPSs.

I mis-spoke, I should not call it a true PCI scan/verification. It is only like a PCI scan/verification with much lower standards, just a basic "check for gaping holes" scan.
