Hi,
I am new to HostMySite service, new to asp .NET, and somewhat new to dynamic web site coding. My previous experience is with php on Linux servers with other hosting services, and I am learning asp .NET using Visual Studio Express 2008. So, my question is this: Why am I getting a permission denied error when I try to upload a page or web.config file that runs fine on my personal computer? I've already checked that the web site properties in VS are set to .NET version 2.0. (That was my first big mistake--not checking that the default site properties in VS matched those of HMS. ) But I continue to be frustrated by the file upload filter. When I force file upload by deleting the offending file from my HMS account using another ftp program and then retrying the upload, sometimes my application goes completely offline because of an "appoffline.htm" (or some similar name) file that mysteriously appears in my root directory. Can anyone help? Is there some setting I can fix in my VS environment so that it won't generate code that HMS servers reject? Or is there a way to fix it so that my application won't go down when I force a file upload for debugging purposes? I'm starting to wonding if the only answer is to purchase a second hosting account that is purely for debugging purposes while I figure out what HMS servers do and don't like. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ~ht |

Can you submit a ticket with the information such as your account number and the location of the script and how to test? This way we can see if there are any permission errors that we can look at.
