| ETA on update to VPS plans? (more hard drive and RAM) |

HMS has been offering the same VPS plans (same drive sizes and RAM specs) for over a year now at the same price. As it is in technology over time everything gets faster and bigger or cheaper, in regards to hard disk, RAM and CPU. So when can we expect to see a bump up in the VPS plans or a lowering of price? Or an additional one step higher "uber" VPS plan. Anyone hear any rumors? I would expect it would have to be soon as to keep up with the competition. I've been holding off upgrading my VPS to a CF8 VPS in hopes that a larger VPS plan will be announced soon.
We know there is need or at least desire for larger specs. Just look at the forum, there are several posts about people asking for RAM updates or belly aching (I'm one of them) about only having 1 GB of RAM. I personally would like to see a 30GB hard disk 1.5 or 2 GB RAM ColdFusion plan. Yes, I know the default answer is, "Maybe a dedicated server is what I need." To that I say no, all I need is a "super sized" lunch meal (VPS) not a 24oz. prime rib (dedicated server). On the plus side, I can say that moving from several low end locally co-located servers to HMS services Email hosting, VPS and etc is one of the best moves we have ever made. I see it as, in the past year thanks to HMS we have grown, now I need my VPS plan to do the same. Thanks you HMS |

I think xgen brings up some really good points.
I am finding, even with only a few sites hosted on my Windows VPS, that I frequently run into memory problems. I need more disk space and more memory. I've had to really throttle memory in CF8 and SmarterMail. I am very grateful for the patient, expert tech support I have received from HMS. Eric |

I don't think they will be offering upgraded VPS boxes anytime soon. There is a limit to how much memory the MB can fit. The Big Memory Chips cost too much still. Something I did notice is the most recent VPS was running on some very beefed up hardware. Duel Xeon Quad Cores. Nothing like seeing 8 cores in your task manger. I am really annoyed that the 1Gig VPS is broken into three logical drives. I would rather have 1 big drive, than three small drives. Even though I know this is so log files, OS and web files an be on seperate drives. My sites aren't that high volume.
