There was a well-known class loader bug in Java 6 which causes significantly slow startup times in Coldfusion 8 applications that loaded a lot of components at startup (such as framework based apps). Here is a link to the discussion in the Sun forums about this bug:
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5218663 and a blog post: http://corfield.org/blog/index.cfm/do/blog.entry/entry/Java_6_and_ColdFusion_8 From what I've heard, this bug was fixed in an update to Java 6 and I was wondering if this update has been applied to HMS shared servers. I'm asking because I recently had a framework-based CF app on an HMS shared hosting plan, and I was forced to take it down because of the EXTREMELY slow startup times I was experiencing. Basically, I'd like to know if the problem with my app had anything to do with this Java bug. thanks, Tony |
