Hello, on one of my dedicated servers with HMS, we are running SmarterMail Professional Edition 3.0.2231. Whenever a user's session times out, and they are redirected to log back in, an error message is displayed upon a successful login (the inbox is not displayed):
/Main/frmMessages.aspx Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I have not noticed this with any other accounts I have with HMS that are on a shared mail server. They all redirect properly. I'm guessing it's a bug within the app. Is there a patch we could obtain to correct this issue, or will we just need to purchase an upgrade? Thanks, MB |

Yeah, SmarterMail can act funny like that sometimes. Some people have problems running the web portion in IIS instead of the built-in SmarterMail webservice. There are a few IIS configuations you need to make sure you have set correctly. You have to have a javascript MIME type registered in IIS, you need to be in .NET 1.1 mode and you have to have some scripting permissions correct. Some more details can be found here:
http://hostmysite.com/support/vps/windows/stiis/ Otherwise you can always go back to using the SmarterMail webserver if you can spare the 15MB of memory on your server. |

Smartermail actually doesn't suggest using their built in webserver for production sites, and I have to echo the statement because I've seen it cause some pretty wild errors in the past.
