Hi guys,

I have had the standard auto-install version of Wordpress running on my site for a while now, but I really want to upgrade to the latest version (better security, features etc). I've backed up the database (just in case) and uploaded the new Wordpress files over the old ones, but for some reason, it just dies when I try to do the upgrade.

I'm very familiar with Wordpress and have done this procedure dozens of times before on other hosts without a problem.

I'm guessing there's some kind of incompatibility causing a PHP error, but it looks like PHP display_errors is switched off, so I can't see why. In this instance, I would look in the error log, but I can't access that either.

So, at the moment, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Amy

Amy you should be able to access your error logs, if not please submit a support request so we can sort that out for you! Smile

AFAIK you should be able to run the latest version of WP on our shared servers without issue.

In most cases this is either due to safe mode or a memory limit in php.ini being reached. We can adjust those both for you but would need you to submit a ticket to support@hostmysite.com in order to take a look.

Just an FYI on WordPress. There is an addon to allow automatic updates.

Not so automatic, you do need to click buttons and follow a wizard. But it works fine at HMS and keeps your version current without any work Smile
