I currently have the ColdFusion 8 shared hosting plan and just logged into my WordPress installation to check it out. I was surprised to see that you're only running 2.0.4 while WP is currently at 2.8.

Are there any plans to upgrade WordPress to the current version?

And is there any way to have the address changed from blog.mydomain.com to something else, like intranet.mydomain.com? I'd like to use WP for my company's intranet and 'blog' won't really work.

Our setup scripts still set up older versions of WordPress, I'm not sure when they will be changed to set up more recent versions. It is probably a low priority fix since you can upgrade the blog yourself. You can install the automatic WordPress upgrade plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/) or follow WordPress's manual plugin guide (http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress). I prefer the plugin though.

To point the domain from blog.mydomain.com, you have to update the home directory of your blog in the options and then update the DNS to point to the IP address of the blog server. You will also need us to update the server configuration so that the server knows what to do with that domain name (by default it only accepts blog.mydomain.com). Send us a support ticket and we can update all of that for you.
Cool.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Not a problem on taking care of the upgrade. Just wasn't sure if it was allowed since it was the default install. And that's great news about changing the blog name. Though I may need some assistance with changing the DNS and such. I'll contact support if I run into a problem.

Thanks for your help!

Just a quick follow-up:

can't use the automatic upgrade plugin for WordPress since the server is set to safemode on. Not a problem as the manual upgrade isn't a big deal. Just wanted to mention this for anyone who stumbles on this thread later.

Ah, yeah, by default safemode is turned on. I totally forgot about that Embarassed

A quick call to support can fix that that though, we can turn safemode off pretty quick for you.

No worries. I didn't think about it either until I got the error in the panel.

I know HMS can fix it: they always take good care of me. Just figured I'd save the emergency call for when I crash a server or something. Very Happy
