Is there something different about the PDO setup on HMS. I'm using Zend Framework and have a php script that works fine on my development environment, but I get an application error on HMS servers. The rest of the site is working correctly on HMS. I'm just unable to make execute a PDO statement.

TIA,
Cathy

Cathy, I'm not at work but can you post a link to a phpinfo() page?

The site is not public yet so I would rather not post a link in the forum. I did check for PDO in phpinfo before I posted last night. It indicates that PDO drivers are enabled for mysql, odbc, pgsql, sqlite. And in The PDO_MySQL section PDO Driver for MySQL, client library version 5.0.45

Thanks,
Cathy

Alright then. If support is enabled, are you seeing any errors in your logs when trying to use these functions?

You can login to your site via SSH, and there should be a logs directory containing your site's error_log. If you could post the error you're seeing there we may be able to assist you further.

PDO bug on PHP 5.1.6

As a follow up. HMS currently uses PHP 5.1.6. There is a bug when using PDO with the version of MySQL installed. When I switched from PDO to the MYSQLI DB adapter I was able to connect to the DB.

There are other problems with the HMS version of PHP and ZF. For example Zend_Date does not work. Basically, if you want to develop a Zend Framework site, I'd recommend not using HMS as a host.

Hello Cathy,

I'm sorry for the problems you've been facing.

I'm using Zend Framework for my site without much issue. Granted I've been off of our shared servers for some time now, however I am running CentOS 5.2 which runs the same version of PHP as your shared server (5.1.6).

Unfortunately Red Hat offers Long Term Support, so the version of PHP, and MySQL, will not change until the next major revision of the OS.

You can read more about Red Hat's support policy here, http://www.redhat.com/security/updates/errata/. We follow these guidelines to ensure you have an optimal experience at HostMySite with as few complications as possible.

Could you elaborate on the Zend_Date problems you're experiencing? AFAIK there are no requirements to use this object. Did you submit a support request in this regards? If so I can look into this further for you, just PM me the Ticket number.

As a follow up anyone who wants an official repository for the latest version of PHP, as well as practically all of the available extensions I'd check out Zend Server. Of course this option is will only be suitable for our VPS, and Dedicated customers.
