Is M$ getting with it on browser technology? According to this article, they are listening to web designers AND the W3C? Shocked

http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9588_22-5683842.html

Which alternate universe did i step into? Anyone else have any other news about IE 7? I heard something about 256-bit encryption (which firefox already has) but M$ also needs to incorporate this into IIS 7 as well...

<prediction>Oh god... this thread is lofty bait... now he's going to come and say that he knows otherwise and they won't do it blah blah blah...</prediction>

Im not sure if it'll happen or not, but if it does it'll surely be a good thing... and it'll make all of our lives just alittle bit easier...

Everyone brace for the fury that will be...

M$ SUXXORZ!!! MACOS ROXXORZ!!!

Ya know though - even if MS does get it together for IE7 - it'll take quite a bit to get me to give up Firefox now...I am SO loving this browser it's not even funny. It has helped me become a better developer - that's for sure. MS has a lot of work to do and if history is any indicator of future behvior, IE7 will be full of bloated, useless features and attempts at integration with things that it doen't need to be integrated with for the sake of attempting to making the web an easier place to navigate while in the meantime making it horribly slow, complex, a support nightmare and riddled with security breaches.

Long Live Firefox.

I sincerely doubt that. Who knows though. Honestly, as bobum mentions, IE is bloated, but so are Win XP and MacOS X. Here's an idea, how about we write code to make our operating systems work faster and our programs work faster than they used to. The point of having faster hardware and more capable hardware is so the Software runs faster. Software should be trim, lean, and feature filled. Get some coders from the old school. There is something to be said for Moore's Law, but not if it means software keeps bogging it down. Oh well, I shouldn't talk, I'm sure if I tried coding something like Mac OS X it would be larger than what they have.

My only quip about IE is I can get almost any html code (w3c compliant) to work in IE, whereas sometimes I have issues with it in Firefox. The internet was more fun in 1997 anyway. I've got to get my PhD in Art History then hole myself up in an Italian church contemplating the meaning of the navel some Renaissance artist painted. *shrugs*

At work, on my PC I use Firefox, but at home I use Safari. I never open firefox on my Powerbook. I don't know why, I just like Safari better.

They had terminal capabilities before. NSCA Telnet, if not preinstalled, was easy to get. It's just built in now.

Here's an article for a review of OS 10.4. Very in depth one at that.

oh jeezo I can let loose on this one!! haha jk

http://www.flexbeta.net/main/comments.php?catid=1&shownews=13097
looks like crap too me!

I think they will finally fix png support but I surely wouldn't count on the being anywhere as near compliant as say firefox, it just wont happen. If it did happen then ppl would actually have a choice of which browser they would be able to use with ANY web page and since when is ms about having a "choice"?
Plus it would potentially break all the sites that were built just for ie and ie only which would then be another nightmare to deal with.

They seem to be saying they will make it more "secure", what a joke!! They best way they can make it secure is to remove it from the os which you know they won't be doing.

And we all were hoping for the new file system in shorthorn as well, oh well maybe next decade Wink

As far as mac browsers go, I really am liking camino http://www.caminobrowser.org/
