What exactly happens when you try to browse the site? Do you get an error message, or it simply doesn't load? Are you able to properly browse your site with us?
I assume you have tried the basics of clearing your browser cache, disabling any firewalls that may be affecting your browsing? The other thing to check would be your hosts file, as that would have an effect across different browsers. Although you are able to ping it, so it is unlikely, but still worth a look.
* Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista: %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\ is the default location, which may be changed. The actual directory is determined by the Registry key \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\DataBasePath. * Windows 95/98/Me: %WinDir%\ * Linux and other Unix-like operating systems: /etc * Mac OS 9 and earlier: System Folder: Preferences or System folder (format of the file may vary from Windows and Linux counterparts) * Mac OS X: /private/etc (uses BSD-style Hosts file) Yet another thing to try would be to use a proxy service to see if you can browse the site via proxy. A proxy uses it's ip and connection to make the request to the site and then relays it back to your computer. There are a number available for use, a simple one that we often use is http://atunnel.com. If browsing through the proxy works correctly then it narrows the possibilities quite a bit. If browsing hostmysite.com via proxy is successful, it's probably best to open a ticket with support so that we can make sure there is nothing on our end preventing you from visiting the site. Be sure to mention the things above that you have tried and the specific results. Hope this helps. |

My host file contains,
# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost After browsing to http://atunnel.com I was able to successfully load www.hostmysite.com. I'll open a ticket and see what happens. Thanks your troubleshooting help. |
