in CF8 server settings>mail I cannot get a positive connection test for any combination of IP, login and password for Localhost, IP, 127.0.0.1/smartermail, IP/smartermail, mail.domainname.org, etc.
I've configured Smartermail on it's control panel as well as in IIS for an SMTP host header. And the mail account is working for regular mail. Also, now that I'm setting up 5 domains on one IP, but only have one CF8 for the VPS, perhaps I should forget host headers all together and just have a IP address returned instead of a domain name. Are there best practices for this? Any ideas? Rick |

Have you configured a domain to listen on the loopback interface '127.0.0.1'? SmarterMail does not listen on this IP unless you specifically configure it to do so.
Also you may want to setup SMTP Authentication Bypass for your public IP as well as the loopback address '127.0.0.1'. If you still have problems with this please submit a support request and we can get you straightened out. Don't forget about SmarterMail's context sensitive help menu! It's a wonderfully useful tool. |
