Q: what is the max outbound and inbound message size on a Gmail account? I don't have one myself so I can't check, but I would like to know.

Thanks for the invite Josh, and thanks for the offer Bob. After setting up an account and using the Help feature within it, I found the following:

Question: What's the maximum attachment size?
Answer: That depends on the attachment. With Gmail, you can send and receive messages up to 10 megabytes (MB) in size.

When you add an attachment, the size of a file may increase because transport encodings (the information that allows your message to be safely sent and read) are automatically added.

This means that in some cases, attachments that are 6 to 10MB in size may push the total message size above 10MB. When this happens, Gmail displays a warning that your message exceeds the 10MB limit.

Thanks.

bobclingan,

Thanks - that was really fast. I've set up the account and will be trying out the new stuff. Hopefully, for now at least there will be less spam on that account since no one knows about it!!!

It's because they're technically still in beta. Everybody was ranting because they gave you a full gigabyte of storage space. I must admin, it's quite a snappy interface and has alot of neat organizational features that NOBODY else offers... but I use outlook. Very Happy

You can enable pop on a gmail account and use it in outlook. I started to do all that but decided that I liked the gmail notifier better.

So that would make you like the "ub3r 1337 script kiddy" of the forum who tries to talk like he knows what he's doing but really has no clue and insists on attempting to raise his credibility by downing anything microsoft and preaching the "linux is supreme" crap? Surprised

touche... Wink j/k

Please don't tell me that you email files > 5 megs to your Gmail account just for HD storage...

Alot of people do... and with a 6-10MB/file cap too... don't ask me... I always said that was retarded. Somebody wrote an app that uses the gmail account like a HDD, and it even adds the "drive" to My Computer... but you know it's slow as sh!t.
