You know, I hate to say it like this because I admire the reasoning behind it although I disagree with the unreasonable persistence, but this is Dave's doing.

Dave, not E V E R Y T H I N G that you disagree with deserves a "m$ sucks linux iz da bomb!!one". Not every thread with anything MS in it deserves that. In other forums that sort of behavior is referred to as trolling.

I admire the reasoning, but when somebody's asking for help with something they don't want "just change change change because the way that I do things is the best" or "m$ will kick your dog and impregnate your wife"... what they want is help... the way that they asked for it. If you can't help in the way they're looking for a post probably isn't necessary as it's not even a contribution in the least. Dave, you're quick to tell Allen that everything he does is just plain wrong... And you know I'd be sick of hearing it also. If you don't want to contribute anything useful to that specific conversation just save it for one that warrants the type of response you'd like to give. You don't have to prove anything to us... we think you're smart.

All Allen wanted was some help with FP. My opinion of FP is that it's sh!t. So is bobums, Alans, Yours, etc... but if Allen wants to use FP then that's his decision. He even stated off the bat that he wants to write... not program. That's why FP exists regardless of the problems it causes. But, admire him. As much as he fought it he entertained our suggestions... CSS, something other than FP (he briefly tried DW if im not mistaken), and is probably going to use some of that goodness in the future. He just doens't want to change everything he does.

Just like I don't wnat to use anything other than Outlook. Or Windows. Or MS Office. That doesn't make me an idiot nor does it make me wrong just because it's not the way you see things. Anywho...

I don't see why we all can't just get along here... most of us are adults, and the ones who aren't are at least old enough to be we've all taught each other something along the lines... and helped each other as well. It'd be sad to have this blown apart by big heads and opinions already.

if u wanna use ms stuff then good 4 u but i will point out other alternatives because well thats how u find new a great things. I used to be boxed into the ms thing myself just like u guys, i have said that many times.

as far as him using fp, well good 4 him but its gets rather frusterating when these ppl ask for help and u try to help but the main problem is frontpage and they just dont get it and it goes round and round and round. Then they get all pissed cause no one can help them but its the tool, i been down this road A LOT, i even said before it would come exactly to this.

u know allen isnt stupid but he should open his mind up to doing it right after all hes been doing this for well over two yrs (which i just saw last night and i thought hed been in this maybe a few months) i mean **** i only been doing this for about 3 1/2 yrs. But hes still stuck at about a 4 month mark and refuses to go forward and i get frusterated.

and i think its good that i do go off on these. Like i will go off on something and he will fight it tooth and nail till u or bo bum comes in and says basically what i say then he believes it(and thanks u guys lol) but it wouldnt have even come up if i wouldnt have, i dont think i have been off on very many things at all. ANd no im not even a very smart dev'r, not compared to the ppl on say my cfm lists, im not even close. But i take in what ppl say and try new paths. Even u josh do that. ur a great writer and if ur gunna be in charge of doing your site u really need give up on this fp stuff and move forward.
I know u think the site is how U like it but if i was a reader i wouldnt stay there for more than 2 pages. U need to change the way u think to more of "i want my site to be a good experience for the readers" and get away from "well i like it". Its there for them not u.
Get rid of the dark colors and use a neutral color setting with less clutter. Why? colors have a HUGE impact on how long a viewer will stay on your site. Dark or bright colors are irrating to the eyes and ppl will generally click out WAY faster than if the colors are easy on the yes. Thats why every major web site is done that way. And with a site like allens you want the visitors to stay and read so make it easy for them to do so.
Take a day and just learn to write basic html syntax by hand, then take another day to learn some css by hand, then take 1 more day and work through a few tuts with an image editor. And then rebuild it clean, should only take a few days. I Mean i could redo that whole thing nicely in a day. And how long has this been going on for now? months? If the old dog would give up his bone for a new one it would already be done & shiny.

lets take a different example, actually another real life happens all the time one.

Lets say u use Norton antivirus and u get a virus(because u probably will cause norton isnt to great but everyone thinks it is)
so u reinstall your os
then u get another virus
and u reinstall your os
and then another, and so on
But u keep using that dam norton, why? obviously it doesnt work, so why not try something else?

Regardless of what antivirus protection scheme you decide to use at home - the 2 biggest thigns to do to rid yourself of viruses are

DO NOT USE IE AS YOUR WEB BROWSER
DO NOT USE OUTLOOK (express) AS YOUR EMAIL CLIENT

If you do those 2 things - then just about any commercial grade antivirus program out there will suffice for you.

I personally ise AVG Free Edition at home (just released version 7) and have had zero problems in Lord Knows how many years.

BUT I HAVE NEVER USED OUTLOOK
and just recently (bout 1.5 years ago)
I STOPPED USING IE

and amazingly enough - malware stopped - spyware stopped - adware stopped OVERNIGHT.
I used to religiously run Spybot, Adaware and HijackThis on all 5 of my machines. Now, I can't remember the last time I ran any one of those apps.
