That will take some hunting, and I hope you have all big name brand stuff... otherwise theres no guarantee that theres a driver out there.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply Josh, I will try my best, then will change the components to stuff i kow i have drivers for, so i will check before buying the stuff. Which is better, Fedora or Mandrake, is mandrake a desktop linux only, as may want to run CF on the PC

I am looking for a dating website software, one that will run on a Smarterlinux.com plan (which i am currently on) Would prefer it to be a CF app as thats the only dev language i know.

well i know that suse finds almost all your drivers for u
actually, installing it is so friggin easy that its pittiful

it also comes with apache built-in so its pretty easy to install coldfusion, just the same as in windows.

as far as the dating software, id build your own as u need it to be very unique to have any shot whatsoever of succeeding. I know there are some out there if u look though. If it is successful then u will be needing to probably co-locate several servers to run it

like i said earlier get the wine program and it will run most windows apps and u shouldnt have much troubles, unless u use dw mx 2004

imo~ mandrake is very lacking in what it gives u & fedora is more if u know what ur doing. i went with suse cause of all the ease of use features and its been considered one of the best by developers

That's actually what I'm using right now and I don't have many problems with it... it's all the poorly documented third party apps that make me want to *kick linux* Wink
Thanks

I will try Suse, am currently downloading it as well at home (a bit painful on my 56k modem), didnt know CF would run on it, but if it does will give it a try, seen screenshots of it, and seems to be nice.. Is it easy to manage and also does it offer any P2P apps, similar to Kazaa?

yeah but u gotta admin it kicks **** over windows and while some of the 3rd party stuff isnt doc'd too good, its still easy to find info on it and its a lot easier than calling m$ with a prob!

and a big OH **** to dling it on dial up lol
if u do the pro set up u really only need the first 3 cds actually first 2

yeah cfm will run on linux no prob just dl the linux version
Got it

it comes with both of those or u still can use dreamweaver mx and earlier

but right now u cant run dwmx 2004 yet but soon

like i said, suse comes with bout everything u need

there are lots of editors u can use as well on linux, your best bet would be cfeclipse, has all the tag highlighting as well

well, im not an anti-ms bandwagon whore... Wink (as I rely on it to support my choice in technologies [.net]) but there are things that I like in SuSE. I've used Mandrake as well and like it, but moreso as a workstation OS.

WINE works pretty good most of the time, but sometimes it just doesn't like to play nice. But for what it is and does it's awesome.
