I have had several of our customers mention to me that the setup e-mail they receive can be a bit "...confusing and hard to read." Maybe we could look into streamlining the setup e-mail in a way that the customer could take it and hang it up at their computers and be able to read their login information and the links like a chart or a table. Any thoughts anyone?

What setup email do you mean? For hosting accounts?
The one's I received when I signed up for my account were pretty straight forward, but not pretty. And the one about my database setup was one continuous line of text with no line breaks. |

I think setup e-mails are a difficult thing. You've basically got one e-mail going to everyone, regardless if this is the first website they've ever done or if they're a reseller with 100 accounts. Some people would probably just like an e-mail saying:
------- ip: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx username: <> pw: <> sql server: <> Have fun! ------- Other people want everything nicely formatted and want all information bracketed by helpful explanations and links with further elaboration, etc. It's a tough balancing act to put out something good I think the best way to see if things are working well is to see what type of questions we get from new accounts. I remember the Linux customers used to constantly call in asking how to FTP, because the setup e-mail was confusing enough that a lot of people were try to access FTP with a URL like: http://mydomain.tempwebpage.com When we see things like this over and over its obvious that there's a problem |

any how would u like them too know who wants what?
not really their responsibilty, should be sent to the reseller, paying person or contact person and the webmaster or technical contact. Outside of that its a techical liabilty and can be then dealt with by one of the previous ppl. now i do think the email interface to admin the emails is very confusing for ppl but thats awhole diff argument maybe making them in an html version would be nice (setup emails) |

I know it can be difficult to streamline this process. Maybe just one e-mail with a brief summary and links like Paul mentioned would be sufficient. Maybe we are being too wordy.

The setup emails have ben adjusted a tad now. You can find most of the basic setup information at http://www.hostmysite.com/setup now while your personal information regarding your specific site will still be contained in the email correspondance. Hopefully this will address that a bit
