I'm looking for ideas for a cool layout for a small directory, a way to list between 20-50 businesses which would be appealing to advertizers. Currently I have eight directories of Arizona bookstores... one statewide directory which covers all the small towns and seven directories for the seven cities. While these directories rank very well, most often number one, they ain't cool, but in checking dozens of other such bookstore directories across the country, nobody else's sites are cool either. All of us have the same unimaginative 'one-after-the-other' listings. Blah-dull. While 'one-after-the-other' is only logical for a directory, there just aughta be a way to pretty it up. I've given up trying to figure out something myself. Bottom line? I wanna sell some ad spaces.

An example of one can be seen at http://www.matrixbookstore.biz/phoenix_bookstores.htm

And yes, FrontPage is capable... besides, as a senior citizen, changing my ways is out of the question. Come **** or high water, FrontPage stays.

Hi, Allen!!! Great to see you!!!

Personally i would get rid of the 2nd column. It's 90% unused anyway. Then, I'd get rid of the random vector style images thrown between the tables. THEN you'd be in better shame (in my opinion). However, if you wanted to further organize this information by area that may be the next logical step... but other than that a directory is a directory and they're never anything fancy.

Hiya Josh... I see nobody has kilt you yet!

Thanks for the advice. As to my '2nd column'... while it is largely unused, that's where I wanted to place ads. In other words, a spot being available for that particular bookstore. I've often wondered about the images tho, perhaps being too wonderful for a mundane directory. You're probably right... they aughta go. They really belong in a museum alongside other great works of art... like the Mona Lisa. Don't you agree?

Well, I took your advice Josh... I eliminated the 2nd column overall but left the ability to easily add it individually in cases of ads. As to the vector art, I reduced their size by 50%. Thats something I thought King Solomon might do.
