With all of the unfortunate cirumstances going on with Hurricane Katrina and the total evacuation of New Orleans, I have read and found that many folks are reconsidering their disaster recovery operations. Some have found that keeping backup data in the same location as their production data is not such a great idea, and others are now deciding that having their alternate DR location should be in another city. Yet others are trying to figure out how to simply operate with a depleted or relocated workforce. These are all relevant questions for other potential hotspots in the country and world due to natural or other disaster.
Also, does your company have a plan to enact in case of disaster and are they relooking at it to see how they can learn from Katrina's wrath? What steps is your organization taking to ensure business continuity?
