Open UI Installation

Has anyone out there successfully installed Open UI on the HostMySite server? My installation has failed and I've no idea how to get around this problem. The people at Design Extend can't figure it out either. I'm at a total loss. I can't believe that all HMS customers are happy with the MMUI functionality - it's completely lacking in features and most of the modules require Open UI.

I've seen many sites on HMS servers that have OpenUI installed, why type of errors are you getting? Or maybe you'll want to send the folks at support@hostmysite.com to see if they can help you resolve the issue.

The installation has apparently worked for the mall but when I try to change the look and feel of the store to Open UI - it gives me a "module does not exist" error. Now I can't even get into my admin as the server times out every time.

HostMySite doesn't support Open UI. I'm totally lost and frustrated. This has been a painful learning lesson.

Alec,

Which version of Miva are you using?
Isn't there something about the latest version (5) not necessarily supporting the 3rd party addons?

The latest version of Miva (5) doesn't support OpenUI; or more accurately OpenUI doesn't support the latest version of Miva. I do think however that 3rd party modules will work with Miva 5 - they simply have to be coded to support it since Miva 5 is vastly different from previous versions.

yeah,

Miva has designed miva 5 so that openUi will not be compatable with it. From what i understand there is no need to have a 3rd party module installed they support it all....

After getting clarification on this , what they mean is.

Yes you can do 'that' with Miva 5 you just have to purchase this module.

"Yes a miva (not a 3rd party) module.... Well techincally it's not a miva module, they may just buy a module and say that it's supported.

What do you mean by mall and store? A regular license is for one store only. If you have multiple stores, you need multiple licenses.

MM5 locked out OpenUI.
MM5 supports 3rd party modules other than look and feel like OpenUI.
The latest Miva Engine doesn't support OpenUI tokens for MM4. You should have Miva Engine v4.1400 which does. Miva is currently working on a fix.

Update: MM5 Engine 5.03 is compatible with OpenUI tokens.
