I am working on adding WAP 2.0 support for viewers on our website. I am using asp.net ( c# ) to write my application. Does anybody know if its possible for a user to upload a file from a camera phone via the WAP 2.0 web browser? This would be a simple file upload similar to that you would do in an HTML form. It just seems it would be more convinent for our members to update their profiles, and upload photos to their profiles if they could do it directly through their camera phone. Is this possible, or does mobile hardware not yet support this function?

that's not so much a hardware issue as a software one, and it depends on what software is available on the phone itself and what it's capabilities are. Is there a such thing as an "upload" (file browser) control for WAP devices?

That is the magic question Very Happy I know WAP supports form fields for text input, but I didn't know if that goes as far as supporting browsing the file system. I am starting to doubt it exsists. I know camera phones support emailing the photos and videos on them to other people. So maybe going about it using a POP3 reader to retrieve the photo from the mail server would work. It would be a challenge to program( lots of automation would have to be programmed ) , but would be a pretty powerful tool to offer clients.

Yeah if you didn't mention an email bound solution this time I was going to. Because cell phones, and especially their media enabled counterparts, are still in their infancy you're not going to find the same amount of flexibility. I imagine there'd be alot of other problems associated. But you should be able to figure it out w/ email Wink

I can't believe it, I almost bought the new Motorola V3 Razor ( in black Very Happy ) only to find out the designers had more influence in the phone's construction than the engineers. This thing only has 5 Megs of storage with no storage card capability. Mad This makes it a pretty lousy platform for testing my mobile sites. I don't even know they they bothered with the camera, not enough room to hold more than a couple dozen pictures.
